Leonard Miles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Essex Junction on Jan. 29, 2026.
Leonard "Len" Charles Miles, a resident of Essex Junction, Vermont, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 71, after years of battling illness.

Born on June 6, 1954, in Colchester, Vermont, Len was the son of Robert Miles, Maureen (Hoose) Robear, and Raymond Robear (all predeceased).

Len was the kind of man who filled a room the moment he walked in. If there was music playing and glasses being raised, Len was usually leading the charge. He believed that life was meant to be enjoyed, not just endured, and he made sure everyone around him felt the same way. His laugh was infectious, loud, and the soundtrack to many of our best memories.

He was a man of simple pleasures, mostly involving "friendly" competition. If you set up a horseshoe pit or a cornhole board, Len was in-and he played to win. While he loved the excitement of outdoor games, he held a special place in his heart for Cribbage, especially with his daughter Michelle. Those games were about more than just points; they were fierce competitions fueled by love and laughter. Whether he actually let her win occasionally or she just got better than him at times is a debate that will remain unsettled. When the games were over, Len found great joy in the quiet company of his beloved cat, Talley, who was his constant and faithful companion.

Len also had a passion for hunting, a sport he was introduced to in his 30s by the Rollins family, whom he loved as his own. With his passing, the deer population of Vermont can finally breathe a collective sigh of relief.

He will be remembered for his laughter, his competitive spirit, and the joy he brought to every room he entered, making countless friends along the way-especially at Home Depot, where he worked for over 20 years.

Leonard is survived by his devoted daughter, Michelle Miles, who meant the world to him; his son-in-law, Craig Lussier; and his grandson, Ethan Roque. He also leaves behind his son, David Miles, and grandchildren Kayla Miles and Damien Miles. Len is survived by his siblings: Karen Miles and her sons Seth and Adam Robinson; Rachel Lavallee and her husband Kevin, along with their daughters Erica Dion and Monique Lavallee; and Jason Robear, his wife Patricia, and their son Logan Robear; his sister-in-law Tamara Miles (wife of his late brother, Scott); and the children of his late brother Robert Miles II, Robert Miles III, Meghan Coyle and Mathew Miles.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Miles II and Scott Miles, as well as his good friend Gary "Sam" Broe. He is fondly remembered by his dear friend, Ann Broe, whom we are grateful he was able to spend some of his last hours with.

Per Len's explicit instructions, we will celebrate his life with good times and good friends, in true Len fashion. We invite you to do just that at the VFW in Essex Junction (73 Pearl St, Essex Junction, VT 05452) on February 7, 2026. The party will be from 12:00-4:00pm. Please come ready to enjoy a Bud Light in his honor, Len's favorite, and share a laugh or a story instead of shedding a tear.
