Leonard Paul Olszewski

Leonard Paul Olszewski (Len) was born in Dunmore (Scranton), Pennsylvania July 1953, the only child of Leonard Robert and Ann Marie (Washenko) Olszewski. He went to high school at Dunmore Central Catholic and then the University of Scranton on a debate scholarship. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania obtaining his M.S. in Economics/Regional Science. Upon graduation, he got a job in Denver, where he subsequently met Daphne Jones; they were married in 1981. Valerie (Val) was born in Denver in 1985. The family moved to Cary, NC in 1987 to be closer to Daphne's family. Len went back to school to obtain his technical writing certificate and was subsequently hired at SAS Institute in 1989, where Matthew (Matt) was born in Cary in 1991. Len had various job titles at SAS, retiring as a Sr. Data Architect in 2017. Len passed away after battling lung cancer on July 19, 2025. surrounded by his family. Len is survived by his children Val and Matt, and their mother, Daphne.
