Leonard A. Pientka, 97, of Sayre passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025.
Born in Dickson City, Pa., July 20, 1928. Leonard was the son of the late Albin and
Sophie Pientka.

Leonard was a graduate of Dickson City High School in 1946. While in high school,
Leonard worked at his local Acme Markets as a stock clerk. After high school, Leonard
continued to work with Acme Markets where he met the love of his life, Carol. Leonard
was drafted into the Army in 1950 and served in Stuttgart, Germany as a Military
Policeman until 1952. Upon his return, Leonard and Carol were married in 1953 and
were blessed with their children, Debbie (Gabriel), Lenny, Joseph (deceased), and Mary
Beth (Fennell.) Leonard graduated with his associate's degree in business from the
University of Scranton in 1955 and continued to work for Acme Markets in various
positions for 45 years until his retirement in 1989 where he retired as a District Manager.

Leonard enjoyed playing golf during his retirement, traveling the world with his wife,
Carol, watching the Yankees, and of course his frequent trips to the casino. Leonard
was a devoted parishioner of Epiphany Church and served as the Treasurer of The
Bridge for a number of years during his retirement. As Leonard's family grew, he was
blessed to spend precious time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

Leonard is survived by his children: daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Keith Gabriel
of Sayre, Pa.; son and daughter-in-law, Lenny and Cathy Pientka of Sayre, Pa.;
daughter, Mary Beth Fennell of Cicero, NY; grandson, David Gabriel, his wife Kelley and
their children, Kensley, Savannah and Colton; granddaughter, Kristin (Gabriel)
Ratkowski, her husband Greg and their sons, Tyler and Andrew; and grandson,
Brendan Reilly of Cicero, NY.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his in-laws, Joseph and Wanda
Bachak, his son, Joseph, and his son-in-law, Kevin Fennell.

A Memorial Mass to Celebrate the Life of Leonard will be held at Epiphany Church, 304
S. Elmer Ave., Sayre, Pa., on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10:30am. Calling hours will
be at 9:30am - 10:15am on the same day in the Epiphany Church basement prior to the
mass. Burial will be following the mass at Tioga Point Cemetery.

Flowers for the services will be provided by the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing
to donate in Leonard's memory are asked to consider Epiphany School, 627 Stevenson
St., Sayre, Pa. 18840 or the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) at vfw.org,
