Lauren Rose Propst, 43, of Honesdale, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Paul Marcero, and their son, Emerson Propst Marcero.

Born on October 27, 1982, in Kingston, PA, Lauren was the daughter of Kurt I. Propst of Honesdale and the late Eleanor "Ellie" (Perry) Propst.

Lauren graduated from Honesdale High School and continued her education at Keystone College. She later earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and graduate degrees from Lehigh University and The George Washington University.

Lauren began her career at The Library Company of Philadelphia, where she cultivated her love for history, research, and service. She later built a distinguished career with USAID and the U.S. Department of State, dedicating herself to humanitarian affairs and disaster relief. Her work took her around the globe, where she helped communities in crisis and made a meaningful difference in countless lives. Guided by compassion, integrity, and a deep sense of duty, she leaves behind a legacy that made the world a better place.

Through her and Raymond's diplomatic and humanitarian careers, they had the privilege of calling Taiwan, Germany, Tunisia, Finland, and Washington, D.C., home. They loved exploring the world together, discovering new places, cultures, and experiences along the way. Lauren brought warmth and openness everywhere she went, always staying connected to the people and places that became part of her life.

Recently, Lauren embraced her most treasured role as mother to her son, Emerson. She approached motherhood with joy, tenderness, and boundless devotion.

In addition to her son, husband, and father, Lauren is survived by her loving sisters, Aimee Propst (Jason Eisele), Beth Reece (Christian), and Darby Propst, all of Honesdale, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale.

The family would appreciate and be grateful for the memories and moments Lauren shared with those who knew her. Please feel free to send stories, photographs, and videos to [email protected]
