Leonard James Richo, born on July 15, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, peacefully passed away on March 5, 2025, in Riverview, Michigan, at the age of 99. Leonard led a life marked by dedication to his family, his community, and his country.
Leonard was a proud veteran who served his nation with honor in the United States Navy during World War II. His commitment to service continued throughout his life as he remained an active member of the American Legion Wyandotte, where he found camaraderie and purpose among fellow veterans.
He dedicated his professional career to public service, retiring from a long-standing position with the city of Southgate. Leonard's work ethic and devotion to his role were evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Richo; his father, Leo Richo; and his mother, Mary Richo. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: daughters Lori (Scott) Perrault and Lynnae Richo, as well as his adored grandchildren Tyler, Cody, Elizabeth, and David, as well as 4 Great-Grandchildren
Leonard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and his service to his country and community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
