He was educated in the Paterson Public School System attending Eastside High School and later graduating from Passaic County Technical Institute studying Mechanical and Engineering.
Leonard was a member of New A.M.E. Zion Church where he served on the Usher Board and the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed going to Atlantic City and shopping for hats.
He was employed at Brogan Cadillac in Clifton, New Jersey for some years.
Leonard Smith, Sr. transitioned this life on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Preakness Healthcare Center, Wayne, New Jersey.
Left to cherish precious memories are his wife; Betty Smith, his son; Leonard Smith, Jr., Conyers, GA, his daughter; Cassandra Smith, Paterson, NJ, one sister; Edith Brown-Scott, Irvington, NJ, nephew; Everett Brown-Mingo, Belleville, NJ, eleven grandchildren and a host of uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He will be sadly missed by those who loved him.
