Leonard Henry Talkington, of Olney Springs, Colorado, passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born September 4, 1951, in Canon City, Colorado, to Frank and Viola (Chaney) Talkington. Len was the younger brother to Barbara Nadine Coulter.
Len was a graduate of Salida High School and briefly attended the University of Colorado Boulder where he studied Aerospace Engineering. On July 10, 1971, he married Shirley Aydelotte and they later became the proud parents of LaShelle Benbow and Lex Talkington.
Leonard worked for Crowley County Water Association as a water and wastewater operator. He also worked for other various entities in the water and wastewater industry and was very proud of his accomplishments. As a father, he was loving, funny, supportive and strived to set a great example for his two children.
Over his years of life, he enjoyed his various hobbies which included earning a pilot’s license, building and flying model airplanes, water skiing, scuba diving, riding motorcycles, woodworking, and fishing.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Shirley Talkington of Olney Springs, CO; two children, LaShelle (Keith) Benbow of Olney Springs, Colorado; and Lex (Megan) Talkington of Jasper, Georgia; three grandchildren, Kiara (Sean) Cairns, Logan Benbow, and Kaden Benbow; great-grandchildren, Adalynn Cairns & Lillian Cairns; and his sister Barbara (Phil) Coulter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Viola Talkington.
