Leonard Walter Whitaker, 81, a lifelong resident of Siloam Springs, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Leonard was born on March 28, 1943, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was the son of Harley Riley Whitaker and Eva Louise Ames Whitaker. He was the widower of the late Linda Whitaker who preceded him in death in 2016.
Leonard had been employed by Bear Brand Hosiery in Siloam Springs where he had been a supervisor, and later had operated backhoes and drove dump trucks for many years. He liked tinkering with old lawn mowers and other projects, visiting with people especially the “Morning Coffee Club” and will always be remembered for his good humor and great laugh.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Bennett of Siloam Springs; one son, Ricky Whitaker and wife Connie of Fayetteville; two grandchildren; two nieces, Janie Holson and Margaret Tyler; along with many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by two wives; his daughter, Michelle Whitaker; one brother and four sisters.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
