Leonardo Rafael Becerra Rodas, a skilled auto body mechanic and valued community member, passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of 81 in Memphis, Tennessee.
A funeral mass will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batesville, Mississippi.
Leonardo was born on November 3, 1943 in Cuenca, Ecuador. After moving to the United States, he dedicated his life to mastering the art of automotive repair, earning a reputation as someone who could fix any car. Leonardo had a passion for vehicles, as he found joy in collecting and restoring old cars, cherishing the artistry and history behind each model.
Leonardo also prioritized his health and well-being, making fitness a cornerstone of his lifestyle. An enthusiastic runner, he reveled in the exhilaration that came with each stride and the fresh air that accompanied his daily exercises. This commitment to fitness blended harmoniously with his enjoyment of fine dining. Known for his love of "wining and dining," he took great pleasure in savoring a nice meal, often shared with family and friends.
His faith was another paramount aspect of his life. Leonardo was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Batesville, MS, where he contributed to the community with unwavering devotion. His presence in the church and participation in activities reflected his belief in service and fellowship, connecting him deeply to those around him.
The loving family he leaves behind to cherish his memory includes his two children, Jessica Douangphachanh (Bobby) of Las Vegas, NV, and Leonardo “Leo” Gonzalez of Sioux Falls, SD; and four grandchildren, Anarock Douangphachanh, Kaylani Douangphachanh, Phoenix Douangphachanh, and Keanu Douangphachanh.
Leonardo will be truly missed by his family and friends. He was not only a great father figure to his own children, but to many around him.
