Mrs. Leonides Lopez

Mrs. Leonides "Leonor" Lopez Caban, 97, of Bank Street, passed away peacefully in her home Monday, May 10th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. Juan Lopez. Leonides was born April 21, 1924 in Lares, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Caban and Celestina Mendez. Leonides met and married the late Juan (Juanito) Lopez Martinez in Puerto Rico and on June 27, 1966 they moved to Stamford, CT, along with their 5 sons and 5 daughters. Although Leonides never worked outside the home, her labor of love towards her immense family was sufficient. In 1990 she gave her life to the Lord and remained faithful to him until her death. She enjoyed singing, dancing with the love of her life, Juanito, doing word search puzzles, watching novelas (soap operas) , popping bubblewrap (lol), playing dominoes and bowling, which she did up until about the age of 80. Her endless cooking, great coffee, and delicious limbers (icees), were enjoyed by many, but what she will mostly be remembered by her family and countless friends, many of whom considered her as their "abuelita" is her funny antics and infectious laugh. "We luju (love you) mom," and will be waiting to one day soon, be reunited in heaven ? She leaves to cherish her loving memory, four sons and their spouses; Angel Luis Lopez, Nelson Lopez, Wilfredo Lopez, Heriberto Lopez, four daughters and their spouses; Nereida Vera, Maribel Lopez, Noemi Rivera and Mery Luz Lopez, 23 grandchildren, 40+ great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She is also preceded in death by one son, Hector Lopez, one daughter, Aida Luz Lopez Morales, her siblings, Maria Lily Arocho, Pedro Caban, Herminia Caban and Maria Caban.
