Leopoldo (Leo, Polo) Enriquez ascended to meet the Great Creator on October 30, 2023 at age 79. Leo was a longtime resident of El Paso and member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe. He graduated from El Paso Technical School and was later inducted into the Army in 1965 where he served his country in Vietnam. His civilian jobs include working at Coca Cola, Merchants, and as a truck driver for Old Dominion. He worked over 30 years in the trucking industry and became the safety supervisor for his company due to his vast experience.
Leo continued to serve his community through several veteran organizations, including the VFW Post 812, Benavidez-Patterson All Airborne Chapter, and the Special Forces Association Isaac Camacho Chapter.
Leo is predeceased by his parents and eight siblings. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Teresa, daughter Ann Marie, Son Leopoldo Junior, brother Thomas, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and the many loved ones who called him Tio, Primo, and friend.
Visitation is Monday, November 6, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Rosary is at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass is November 7, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 9025 Diana Drive. The committal service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery is on November 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Leo’s celebration of life is at VFW Post 812, 2400 Davis-Seamon Road, following interment at Fort Bliss.
