We pause today and bow in humble submission to the memory of one so dear, whose life stood forth as a shining light for everyone to see. His kindness and gentle love will forever be remembered by us all.
Mr. Leotis Velma was born September 12, 1959, in Hughes, Arkansas, to the late Cornellius "Jimmy" Velma and Ida Lee Velma. He departed this life on October 3, 2025, at his home in Widener, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornellius (Jimmy) Velma and Ida Lee Velma; three brothers, Loyd T. Moore, Cornellius Velma, and Joe Velma; and one sister, Martha Jean Velma McKinney.
Leotis was a devoted father, loving family member, and a faithful friend to many. He will be remembered for his hard work, generous heart, and dedication to helping others. For over 20 years, he worked faithfully alongside Derrick Spears with Bad Boy's Transmission, where he was respected for his skill and dependability. In addition, he labored diligently on the farm for more than 20 years, finding joy and pride in honest work and the satisfaction of providing for others.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Otis Mason of Forrest City, Arkansas; Keith Velma of Omaha, Nebraska; and Kendrick Britt of Forrest City, Arkansas; his brothers, Henry C. Velma of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Lewis Clay (Patricia) Velma of Forrest City, Arkansas; his sisters, Lula Mae Leaks of Camden, Arkansas; Diane (Henry) Lee of Madison, Arkansas; Flordia Mae Kinnard of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Della Mae Spencer of San Bernardino, California.
He also leaves behind six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
