Leroy Arthur Atkinson-Parks was born in Philadelphia, PA to Leroy Parks and Lillian Atkinson, the youngest of two children. The family journeyed to Brooklyn, NY where he attended elementary through high school.
During his attendance at Lincoln High School, Leroy, affectionately known as "Jocko" the basketball player, track star, and dancer. He was well known and admired by his peers. During this era, Jocko welcomed his first son, Sean Williams, into the world. He soon married Pearl Joseph and of that union, Terrylee was born.
As an adult, Leroy acquired gainful employment as a Security Guard and eventually transferred to materials management at Maimonides Medical Center of Brooklyn until his retirement in 2017. At Maimonides, he met, befriended, and fell in love with Suellen Palmer-Harris. Leroy would attend church services with her. After a few visits, God called Lee to the alter and it was then he dedicated his life to Christ. He was baptized and became an active member of The Mt Lebanon Baptist Church of Brooklyn. On July 3, 2015, Sue and Lee were married; eventually moving to Alexandria, VA.
Known for his suave sunglasses and snazzy fedoras, Lee is also a member of the fraternity, Order of The Freemasons.
On June 5th, 5:00 PM, Leroy hung up his dancing shoes as Christ took his hand and called him home. No more pain, Lee has ascended to his heavenly home to join the ancestors. Their loving arms have welcomed him home. Remember that "gap" smile and his twinkling eyes.
Leroy leaves to mourn his loving wife Suellen Atkinson; Sons Terrylee & Sean; Grandchildren, KaleaLee, Kai, Parker, TJ, Levi, and Elijah; Stepchildren Dyonndra, Sharyce, Raymond & Jerrod; Daughter in law, Chycon; Last but not least, a host of family and friends, all of whom shall miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends at the Cunningham Turch Funeral Home on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 11 AM until 12:00 PM To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Leroy, please visit our Tree Store.
