Leroy John Onesti

Leroy John Onesti, age 88 of Wittenberg, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Weston.
He was born on April 18, 1937, in the Township of Osceola, Fond Du Lac County, to Scivio and Loretta (Kranig) Onesti.
On January 5, 1963, he was united in marriage to Janet Ziegelbauer in Birnamwood. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2001.
Leroy was a farmer through and through doing tillage work on the farm yet this spring. He was very involved in the community and held various roles, such as serving on the Bowler School Board, town chairman for the Town of Almon for many years and serving for the Central Wisconsin Electric Coop. Leroy was also a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Birnamwood. He enjoyed watching the Packers and the Brewers, and doing word find books. Leroy loved making Christmas candy, which his family all loved.
Leroy is survived by four children, Sheri Beilke, Lori (Alan) Andrus, Steven (Tammy Pestka) Onesti and Tammy (Brian) Antone; eight grandchildren, Austin (Erica) Beilke, Travis (Heather Schulta) Andrus, Ashtyn Andrus, Brittney (Cody Derks) Andrus, Stevie Jo (Brad Rehn) Onesti, Jay Onesti, Jordan Antone and Cameron Antone; eight great grandchildren, Brantley Beilke, Courtlyn Andrus, Landon Andrus, Colt Andrus, Kane Derks, Ivory Derks, Violet Rehn and Remi Rehn; one brother, Paul Onesti and one sister, Rosemary Putnam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; parents, Scivio and Loretta Onesti; son-in-law, Ralph Beilke; two sisters, Juliann Barroso and Marion Onesti and one brother, Richard Onesti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Vicente Llagas will preside. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4-8 PM at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, and again on Thursday, from 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church.
