Beloved brothers and sisters, we gather in the light of our Lord to honor and celebrate the homecoming of a true servant of God, Leslie Samuel Dillon, known affectionately to us all as Les. Born on the twelfth of June, 1932, in the humble town of Burlington, New Jersey, Les was a beacon of the Lord's love from the very start. It is with a heavy yet hopeful heart that we announce his peaceful departure to join his wife Audrey, family and friends, and be with our Heavenly Father on the twenty-fourth of January, 2024. He departed from the warm embrace of Sebring, Florida, after a courageous battle with a terminal illness.
Les was a man of unwavering faith and boundless kindness, attributes that shone brightly throughout his life. A proud veteran of the Navy, he served his country with honor and dignity before heeding a higher call to serve the Lord as a minister. His devotion to his faith was as steadfast as his love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his sons, Thomas and Steven Dillon, who will carry forward the torch of their father's wisdom and compassion.
Les was a man who cherished the simple joys of life. His passion for sharing the Lord's word was matched by his love for the intricate beauty of model trains-a pastime that reflected the careful attention and patience that he practiced in every aspect of his life.
His was a life lived in service-to his country, to his family, and above all, to his Savior.
He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith. Now, a crown of righteousness awaits him, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to him on that Day-and not only to him but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
May we honor Les's memory by emulating his love, his kindness, and his wisdom in our own lives. Let us rejoice, for our brother has gone on to glory, and though we will miss him dearly, we are assured that one day, through the grace of God, we shall meet again on those golden streets where parting is no more. Amen.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his viewing from 9:30am-11:30am on Wednesday January 31, 2024 at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ 08060. Funeral services for Les will follow the viewing at 11:30am. Interment and military honors will follow the service at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:30pm.
