Leslie Llewellyn Helmick Jr.

Leslie Llewellyn Helmick, Jr., age 74 of Laurel, MD formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed away Friday morning, March 31, 2023 at Luminus Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born on August 29, 1948 in Moorefield, WV, he was a son of Grace Virginia Weatherholtz Helmick of Moorefield, WV and the late Leslie Llewellyn Helmick, Sr.
Upon graduation from Moorefield High School in 1966, he went to work for the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, MD. He was soon drafted into the U.S. Army and served for two years, mainly in Germany. Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army, he returned to work at the NSA. He retired in the early 2000's after more than 40 years of service. Leslie was a numismatist (coin collector) and had an extensive collection of HO Scale trains.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Ronald E. Helmick of Columbia, MD and Roger L. Helmick of Moorefield, WV.
Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Fraley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Washington Street with Pastors Russell & Lucy Webster officiants. Interment will follow with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the U.S. Army and the Moorefield Veteran's Honor Guard in the Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
