Obituary of Leslie A. Maslyn
Leslie A. Maslyn, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
Leslie was born on April 20, 1954 in Albany, NY to the late Gerald and Jacquelyn Walter of Albany.
Leslie graduated from Cobleskill State College in 1975 and Buffalo State University in 1978 with an Associate's Degree in Food Service and a Bachelors in Nutrition. Leslie worked for 36 years as a Diet Technician at Ira Davenport/Taylor Health Center. Leslie loved getting to know the residents and their families who appreciated her dedication and all her efforts in managing their nutrition.
Leslie met and married her husband Jay Maslyn in 1982 and together they raised two beautiful children Elissa (Matt Santana) and Ryan (Brenda Dyk). Leslie and Jay celebrated their 40th anniversary on October 9th, 2022.
Leslie loved spending time with family and friends, "dirt therapy" as she often referred to her love of gardening, walking and hiking Mossy Bank and in the Adirondacks. She was an avid reader. She loved traveling with her husband: having gone to Scotland to visit her daughter at University and Ryan in NYC and Los Angeles, Hawaii, Ireland, and more recently, Italy, the Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. She enjoyed annual trips to the Adirondacks and just spending time with friends kayaking and floating at nearby Goodhue Lake. Everyone that knew Leslie liked her kindness, generosity, positive attitude and love of her children and family.
Leslie is survived by her loving husband Jay, her children Elissa and Ryan, her brothers David Walter (Sue) and Jeff Walter (Colleen); Brother in law Mark Maslyn (Nancy) and Sister in law Mary Maslyn (Phil), along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are welcome to join the family in a viewing at Fagan's Funeral Home on Saturday, February 25th from 12 pm to 2 pm, followed by a brief service at 2:15 and a luncheon at the Bath Country Club at 3:30 pm.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fagan's Funeral Home.
