Leslie Earl Post, age 72, of
Springfield, Missouri, died on July 28, 2023 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Leslie was the youngest of three children born to Leonard and Mary (Hendrix) Post on February 14, 1951 in
Clinton, Missouri. His siblings Deloris (Johnson) and George Post predeceased him.
Leslie graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1969, where he was a talented athlete and class comedian. Later in life he attended Ozark Tech & Missouri State University with an interest in computer science. Throughout his life he was active in hunting and fishing. He loved the outdoors, animals of all types and being in nature. He was the Boy Scout leader for his sons in the 1990s while living in
Fair Grove, Missouri. Also during that time he was a strong supporter of his children's various sporting events and extracurricular activities, as well as coaching little league.
Throughout his professional career, Leslie was interested in home construction and operated his own residential construction business for 25 years. He was an expert carpenter. His knack for construction and do-it-yourself projects impacted all areas of his life. Whether it was a lawn mower, refrigerator, automobile or a home electrical system, he could fix it. He was a true jack of all trades. He also loved teaching his children how to fix and build things.
Leslie was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since joining in the late 1980s and helped mentor hundreds of individuals through "The Program." He regularly attended meetings 2-3 times a week. He also volunteered his time counseling incarcerated inmates.
Motorcycle riding was one of his true passions in life. He especially liked Harley Davidson motorcycles. He frequently enjoyed long motorcycle rides with his buddies on the country roads throughout Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. He also supported the Patriot Guard Riders whose members provide motorcycle escorts during funeral processions for fallen members of the U.S. military. One of his other passions was sports, especially professional football. He was a diehard fan of the Kansas Chiefs and would often host game-day viewing parties in his home.
Leslie is survived by his former wife, Judy (Lane) Post, their children Bradley Post, Joshua Post and Daisy Simpson, and seven grandchildren, Aliyah Post, Alyson Post, Brayden Post, Isaac Simpson, Mary Simpson, Emma Simpson and Thomas Simpson.
He will be dearly missed.
