Leslie M. Shapiro, a resident of Beacon and former longtime resident of Westchester and Dutchess County, passed away on May 28, 2022 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 76 years old.
Les was born on November 25, 1945 in Brooklyn, the son of the late William and Ruth Kornhaber Shapiro. Les owned several clubs and restaurants in New York City over the years and also was a Vice President for Harrah's Hotel in Las Vegas.
Les was truly one of a kind. He was full of life and could light up any room. He loved to laugh and joke and made sure everyone was having a good time. He was also known as "The Duke" or "Mr. Les." He was a generous man who helped many people and would give the shirt off his back. Les was also known as a ladies' man.
Les is survived by his daughter, Shannon Shapiro; his many close friends.
In addition to his parents, Les was predeceased by his brother, Barry Shapiro.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, June 2 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill. On Saturday, June 4 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Shapiro family home, 66 Sterling Street, Beacon, a celebration of Les' life will be held.
Memorial donations in memory of Les may be made to either the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or to Parkinsons Foundation.

So sorry to hear about your dad Shannon. I just tried calling his cell phone and it went to voicemail so I googled him and saw that he passed away. I wish I could have said good bye. -Tina Liva
