Lester Betts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schaetter Funeral Home - Fredericksburg on Mar. 12, 2026.
Lester was born Friday July 29, 1949 to Lester and Winnie Mae Betts Sr. in Sardis, Mississippi. He was the oldest of four siblings. He attended school in the Boyle school district in Mississippi. He traveled around and worked all around Mississippi in his late teen years. He was a welder for quite some time working with his uncles building grain silos for the Nay Company, eventually landing himself in Fredericksburg TX where he met Florence Louise Jenschke while she was a waitress at Klaerners café. Lester and Florence roughly dated 4-5 months before getting married on Thursday, April 10, 1969, at Bethany Lutheran Church here in Fredericksburg. After getting married Lester and Florence left Fredericksburg to move to Waxahachie for his work. They moved all over the United States, including Montana for a bit. Lester made his way back to Texas and that is where he stayed. Lester and Florence made their homestead on the Jenschke family farm where he helped with all of the duties. Lester had many jobs once they settled in Stonewall. He did carpenter work at one time for Leroy Behrends. In the 80's , Lester met Jeff Campbell. During that time, Lester and Jeff formed the Stonewall Chili Pepper Company. Sometime in the 90's, Lester and Jeff disbanded, Stonewall Chili Pepper Company was no more. Lester then began working for Mike or as we all know him, Coach Edwards. Lester retired in 2013. For a short stent, Lester did help Gold's Orchards peach farm. In Lester's time, he enjoyed, fishing, drinking a cold Lonestar, and causing rukus. He will be missed by many.

Lester was preceded in death by his father,Lester Betts Sr, mother, Winne Mae Ray-Betts, three sisters, Mary Ann Betts, Winda Wenzel, Donna Hubb, and his brother, Robert Betts, all of Illonois.
