Lester Norbert Hobbs Jr.

Funeral services for Brother Lester Norbert Hobbs, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Faith Bible Baptist Church, Oakdale, with Brothers Robert Jordan, Keary Jordan, and Gerald Anglin officiating. Interment will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Oakdale, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Brother Hobbs, 73, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 12, 2025, in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
The most important thing to him was his salvation, at the age of 10 years old. Lester was raised in Pensacola, Florida, and loved surfing as a teenager. In November 1972, he surrendered his life to preach the gospel. He received his B.A. at Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, where he met his wife of fifty-one years. He pastored Faith Bible Baptist Church for thirty-six years. He wanted to preach until going to Heaven, which he certainly achieved. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and watching the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Norbert Hobbs, Sr.; and one brother, Preston Hobbs.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Joy "Dotty" Hobbs of Oakdale; one son, Lester Hobbs, III, and wife Marquita, of Memphis, Tennessee; his mother, Virginia Hobbs of Pace, Florida; and one sister, Belinda Norred of Pace, Florida.
A time of visitation will be held at Faith Bible Baptist Church, Oakdale, on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 12:00 noon until time of service.
