Lester J. Levin, 93, of Sioux City, born on October 20, 1932, in Correctionville, Iowa, to Lester (Sr.) and Esther Levin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 29, 2025, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Lester was a beloved spouse to Janet, father to Carla and Shanna, and brother to Arnold Levin, Anna Smith, Betty Burns, Janet Brown, and Ethel Levin. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Lester was married to Janet D. Miller on October 26, 1956, and they shared 69 wonderful years together. From this loving marriage, they had two daughters, Carla Rodawig of Sioux City, Iowa, and Shanna (Troy) Ford of Des Moines, Iowa. Lester was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Esther; his sisters, Annie, Betty, and infant sister, Ethel; his brother, Arnold; and mother and father-in-law, Clara and Ed Miller.

In 1950, Lester volunteered for the US Navy and served aboard the USS Iowa as a machinist mate second class. He was a Korean War Veteran, earning eight service medals. After returning from his brave naval service, Lester met Janet, and they soon moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where they were married. They later moved back to Iowa and farmed land in Washta, Iowa; finally settling in Sioux City, Iowa, to raise his beautiful family and where he owned and operated Hawkeye Transmission for over three decades. Lester was a man of high integrity and an amazing spouse, father, and friend.

He was an avid angler, spending many weekends camping at Yankton, S.D., and later at their lake cottage in Crofton, Neb. Lester was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix or repair just about anything. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Calvary Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, and later St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

We are all comforted to know that he has been reunited with the many close family members and friends who preceded him in death.

Services will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Sioux City on Saturday, January 3, 2026, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following, and Meyer Brothers Morningside handling services.
