Lester Robb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith & Sons Funeral Home - Columbia City on Apr. 26, 2023.
Lester Leroy Robb, Jr., 80, of Columbia City, died Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Majestic Care of Fort Wayne, where he was a resident since April of 2020.
Born in Denver, Colorado, on April 30, 1942, he was a son of the late Lester Leroy Robb, Sr., and Beatrice Isabella (Madden) Robb. He grew up in Fontana, California, where he graduated from Fontana High School in 1959. He joined the United States Air Force on April 4, 1961, and became an electronics repairman. After his honorable discharge on April 2, 1965, he earned a Bachelor's in Electronics and Technology.
He went to work for Lockheed in California. He moved to Columbia City and started a retail store, R&B Sound Records, in Columbia City. Returning to Anaheim, CA, he worked as a deliveryman for Rocky Mountain Water for over three years. Relocating to Columbia City, he worked for Tempo Technologies, Columbia City, for three years and then for Lucent/Avaya Technologies out of Indianapolis for over six years.
A Classic Rock music aficionado, he amassed over 10,000 albums and had an encyclopedic knowledge of artists, songs, and albums. His knowledge won him a 1967 Dodge Charger when he correctly answered a California Radio music quiz. When not talking about classic rock or attending a concert, he used his electronic skills to build a better sound system to listen to music. After winning the Charger, he became a muscle car fan. Through the years, he liked spending time with his family and dog, Charlie.
Surviving is his wife, Chris; their son, Matthew E. Robb of Columbia City; his children, Troy E. Robb of Angola and Sheryl (Thomas Beerbower) Robb-Reiff of Fort Wayne; a stepson, Eric M. Gowen of Columbia City; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Louise Robb, and a brother, John Robb.
A Memorial Service celebrating Lester's life will be held at 5 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home Columbia City. A gathering of family and friends is Saturday from 2 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.
Memorials in Lester's honor are to his wife, Chris.
