Leta Roy Gray
December 31, 1952 - December 18, 2025
Leta Roy Gray, 72, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on December 18, 2025, in her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 31, 1952, in Baird Texas, to Leroy and Eunice Crawford.
Leta graduated from Clyde High School in 1971. She spent many years working in the Maintenance Department for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice before retiring. Even in retirement, she continued working part-time at Wyatt Electric, staying active and dedicated as she always had been.
Leta poured her heart into her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved being outdoors, working in her yard, and finding peace in nature. By her side through it all was her beloved dog, Rhapsody, who never left her side and was a constant source of comfort and companionship.
She is survived by her sons, Brian Gray and wife Nikki, and Daniel Saucedo; her daughters, Heather Mitchell and fiancé Will Melton, and Michelle Chandler and wife Jennifer; her grandchildren, Beaux Newlun and wife Ashley, Masyn Mitchell, Chaselyn Mitchell, Adisyn Gray and Joe Cortez, Preslyn Saucedo-Gray, Emma Gray, and Nicholas Gray; her great-grandchildren, Brinlee, Thurston, Easton, Kasyn, and Brixx; her sister, Melba Moore; and dear friends Mary Roberson and Triana Beauchamp.
Leta was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Eunice Crawford; her brother, Johnny Crawford; and the love of her life, Tommy Scurlock.
A celebration of Leta's life will be held at a later date.
The family of Leta wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Alpha Omega Hospice and Renaye for the wonderful care and compassion shown in her final days.
"Her hands nurtured her home, her heart nurtured her family, and her love will never fade."
