Letha Nichols Taylor went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. She was born in Owensboro on May 18, 1940 to her parents Everett Lee and Golda Nichols. She was a bat girl for her Dad's girls softball team. She fell in love and married her loving husband, Joe Billie Taylor, on October 4, 1957 and they were married 62 years. She worked security at AEP Power Plant in Rockport, IN for 28 years. Her co-workers nicknamed her Mama Bear. She loved being with her family and praying for her family, friends and anyone else who needed prayer. She enjoyed swinging on the porch, feeding birds, growing flowers, watching UK basketball and traveling to the Smoky Mountains. She loved her late dog, Shortie, very much and her cat, Blackie. She was a member at Calhoun Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Billie Taylor; parents, Everett Lee and Golda Nichols; and a sister, Alice Faye Sawyer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, JoAnn (Ricky) Hamilton; son, Darrell (Sheila) Taylor; daughter, Dianne (Sterett) Miles; son, Bryant (Deanna) Taylor; grandchildren, Michelle Hamilton, Aaron (Becky) Hamilton, Cathryn (Aaron) Shupert, Leah Mae (Will) Beals, Cameron Taylor, Gavin Sanders and Westyn Miles; great-grandchildren, Hunter Young, Palmer Hamilton, Logan Beals, Rylee Shupert, and Ryder Shupert.
Her best friends were Mary Dowland and Betty Paceley, family friend Charles Gray, special church friends Cherie Stiles and Carol Robertson and special neighbors, Lynnette Butterworth and Fortunato Flores.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Calhoun Baptist Church, 315 Main St., P.O. Box 283, Calhoun, KY 42327 in her memory.
