Leung Kan "Kenny and LK" Man

Leung Man Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home on Feb. 6, 2026.
Leung Kan Man (aka Kenny and LK) was an amazing and resilient soul, just like his wife. He was born in 1934 to Ms Fung Lai and Mr Pui Man in the GuangDong Province of China. As a child he ran with his family from Japanese solders in WW2 with all his possessions rolled in a blanket draped around his neck. He was the youngest of 4 and first to complete high school (Tak Ming College), undergrad (National Taiwan University) and post grad (University of Waterloo). Quite a feat for a non-formally educated family postwar and during the Cultural Revolution in China. He was a very talented artist and musician but out of necessity chose to major in structural engineering. To immigrate to the US with only a few hundred dollars in their pocket was astounding.

As a professional engineer, LK was an expert on concrete. Nuclear power plants, "cut and cover", the Big Dig in Boston, GT Strudl and physics were common topics overheard. As a dedicated family man, he was an expert in practicality and resourcefulness. They bought their first house in Burlington in 1974 and slowly renovated it as needed. There was nothing he could not reuse or repurpose.

Kenny was lighthearted and playful too, still tossing balls to staff in his hospital room. He loved to travel the world with his wife on their Tak Ming school reunions annually and their visits with his siblings and siblings-in-law in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. Kenny and Amy also traveled globally with their children and grandchildren, enjoying feeding fish in Hawaii, temples and a ladyboy show in Thailand, snorkeling in Mexico, a hot spring and penis museum in Iceland, and the best dried mango and a safari in South Africa. Education was paramount and he and Wai-Lin were so proud to be able to support their children and grandchildren at university.

His garden was his favorite hobby. If you were lucky to live nearby and had a sickly plant, he would take it in and nurse it back to health for you. He had a green hand, not just a thumb. They planted 3 peach trees which were so prolific that they have shared over 100 seedlings with their Burlington Senior Center where they spent most mornings.

Kenny lived quite a healthy and active life overall. He had never even stayed overnight in a hospital until his last days. His neurologist demanded to know his diet because his heart muscle was so healthy. He had an urgent meeting with his grandson in the early morning of Jan 29th however. Surely they needed to discuss some urgent engineering issues and he had to leave with his family holding his hands.

LK Man is survived by his most beloved wife of 61 years Wai-Lin Man (aka Amy), smart son Tai, creative daughter King, playful granddaughter Sophie and curious grandson Andrew (in memoriam). He loved having his always optimistic sister-in-law Sheu Lin, and compassionate nieces Alia and Tze and their families nearby.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visiting hours on Saturday, February 7th from 2pm to 5pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.

In lieu of flowers, please buy yourself an aloe plant. It will keep you company, and as Kenny would want, it will help to soothe the bumps and bruises of everyday life. "Aloe plant is good for everything" - LK
