On February 25, 1982, in Baltimore, Maryland, Kenneth and Gerzena Jackson welcomed their baby boy, LeVander Alexander Jackson, into the world. He was given the nickname, "Sweet Rock," by his grandfather, Wesley "Boot" Jackson, Sr. LeVander was also given the nicknames "Vander" and "Lil V" by his family and friends. On Saturday, December 2, 2023, he departed his life at Tennova Healthcare in
Clarksville, Tennessee.
LeVander received his education in the Davidson County public school system and graduated from high school with the class of 2000. After completing high school, he attended classes for Central Sterile Processing Technician and used his knowledge to gain a position at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He loved to work and didn't mind working hard, often working two and three jobs a day. His employment included Fleming Trucking Company, Hoodz Commercial Cleaning Service, Vanderbilt University Hospital, VA Medical Center, Hilton and Opryland Hotels, and several staffing agencies.
He accepted Christ at a young age and joined Cleveland Street Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend J. K. Alexander. While a member of the church, he was an active member of the Cleveland Street Baptist Church Drill Team. He had a passion for people and loved to make others laugh. He made friends wherever he went. LeVander loved his family, especially his
parents, his children, and his granddaughter.
LeVander was preceded in death by his brother, Terrell Jackson of Baltimore, MD; maternal grandparents, Zella and Wesley Jackson, Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Calvin Lee and Jessie Jackson.
Surviving to cherish his memories include his loving and devoted mother, Gerzena Jackson of Nashville, TN; father, Kenneth Jackson of Baltimore, MD; five beautiful children, QuaShaun Jackson, McKenzieLewis, Qun'Darius Obaraye, and Bryson Jackson, all of Nashville, TN, and Alexis Patterson of
Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Jalea Kinnard of Nashville, TN; and one granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Monica Jackson and Jessica Jackson, both of Baltimore, MD; two nieces, April Jackson and Ariel Jackson, both of Baltimore, MD; two nephews, Arron Jackson of Baltimore, MD, and Kenneth Terrell Jackson of Florence, SC; seven godchildren; three first cousins who were brothers to him, Tarvoris McRae, Dedrick Hunter, and Chocolby McFarland; and a host of aunts, uncles, close relatives, and friends. Family members who have been a positive influence in his life include Bruce and Justine Holland of Murfreesboro, TN, Larry and Debra Jackson of Killeen, TX, Rufus and Rudell Jackson of Timmonsville, SC, Ethel Mae Jackson, Lindell Jackson, and Dorothy Samuel, all of
Hartsville, SC, Perez Jackson and Windell Jackson, both of Kannapolis, NC, Virginia Council of
Hartsville, SC, and Terry Lawson of Smyrna, TN, and many other devoted relatives.
