Levi Anders Vasquez

Levi Anders Vasquez, beloved son of Daniel and Deborah Vasquez, born Sept. 18, 2022, in Layton, Utah, returned home to his Father in Heaven June 8, 2024. His adventurous spirit and abundant personality will forever be missed.

Levi’s love for people was genuine, and his vibrant energy could fill an entire room. The mischievous grin he frequently wore drew people to him, and he actively sought out moments to connect with those around him. At church he enjoyed giving members of the congregation whatever toy, book or snack he had with him that day, and capturing their attention with his curious and playful demeanor. Because of his strong character and high energy, he required attention day and night. The extra time that Levi wanted his family to hold and be with him during those sleepless nights and busy days will be a treasure to them forever.

He took his first steps at nine months old, and quickly became a whirlwind of unstoppable force. His determination to see, smell, taste, and touch all things in his environment was matched only by his delight and amusement as each new discovery unfolded before his eyes. Besides his mothers arms, his favorite place to be was outside. When there was nothing left to discover in the house, his sticky toddler hands would quietly open the locked protective cover and he would shimmy out the doggy door to find more interesting things. The smallest things brought him great joy: rocks, water, dirt, sand and plants.

But the greatest joy for him was found in time spent with his older siblings. He adored them and wanted to be a part of everything they did. You could often find him jumping on the trampoline with Daniel, or sharing a snack with Yolanda on the outside steps. When mom needed a break to cook dinner or do other household chores, his older siblings were always happy to take him upstairs to watch his favorite show, Blippi, read him a story, or play peek-a-boo behind the couch.

He was blessed to have many friends, teachers, and people that loved him and watched out for him. Nursery leaders at church took him in at an earlier age, and he delighted in the time spent playing with them and his friends every Sunday. He especially loved snack time and bubbles.

Levi’s bond with his mom was powerful and precious. If he was not in her arms, he was following close behind her, or, as he got older, running full speed ahead of her. He looked to his mom for comfort, love, nurture, and reassurance. Whenever he saw his mom’s outstretched arms, he would run as fast as he could and wrap his little arms around her neck in a hug that melted her heart every time.

Levi connected deeply with his dad through music. During the daytime, he would play Blippi songs for him; “The Excavator Song” was his favorite. At bedtime, Levi would snuggle up to his dad’s chest as they rocked back and forth in the chair and listened to songs like “Consider the Lilies” and “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” Although he struggled with sleep for most of his life, he could peacefully rest the entire night when Dad put him to sleep. He always had a big smile for his dad.

Some of Levi’s favorite things included tipping things over, watering plants in the front yard, chasing the ducks and geese at the park, and watching the garbage truck. His favorite words were goat, wow (water), trash, dirt, duck, and mama. He loved balloons, playing with any kind of ball, blowing kisses, and sharing whatever little toy or item he had in his hands.

Levi is survived by his parents, his sister, Yolanda, and brother, Daniel. He is also survived by his Abuelita Yolanda Montejo, Grandma Suzanne Wildey, and many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Levi continues to blow his kisses and share his love. Whenever you feel the wind, notice flowers blooming out of season, or see balloons wave gently in the breeze, you can know that Levi is still here, and trying to capture your attention. So, smile in return. Our hearts ache for your love, give gratitude for the time that we had with you, and rejoice in your freedom from earthly pains. We have faith that you have joyously reunited with your Father in Heaven, and look forward to our own joyous reunion with you. Until we meet again; our papacito hermoso, our sweet baby boy.

Funeral service Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Lindquist Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Burial to follow at the Lindquist cemetery.
