Lew Lancaster Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lew Lancaster, who departed this life peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 72. Lew was a beloved father, papa, uncle, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of many.
Lew was born on December 29, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, and spent his entire life in Henderson, Colorado-a place he held close to his heart. In his early years, he worked alongside his parents on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work and integrity. Those lessons shaped him for life.
After graduating from Brighton High School in 1971-always proud to call himself a Brighton Bulldog-Lew spent more than 20 years with the Brighton Co-op. Later, he found the perfect blend of work and passion as a mechanic at Riverdale Golf Course. Combining his love for golf with his knack for fixing things brought him great joy, and he remained there until his retirement.
Music was also a part of Lew's story. In his younger days, he and his close friends started a band. Anyone traveling along Brighton Road was often treated to a "garage concert," as the sound of their practice sessions carried out into the neighborhood.
Lew was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan, rarely missing a chance to cheer them on. He also loved NASCAR, but golf became his true pastime. Whether working on the course, playing with friends, or enjoying outings to new courses, the game was a constant source of joy. After retirement, he found peace in gardening, happily sharing stories and tips with anyone who would listen. He also adored his animals-dogs, chickens, and others-earning the title of "head treat giver" to the dogs who loved him back just as much.
Of all his roles, the one that brought him the most joy was being "Papa." When his only granddaughter, Rylei, was born, Lew's life took on a new light. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and his face lit up every time he spoke of her.
After Lew's stroke, his daughter Lacey became his devoted caretaker. The time they spent together through his recovery deepened their bond and showed the quiet strength of their love for one another. To Lacey, her dad was-and always will be-her Superman.
Lew is survived by his daughter, Lacey Lancaster (Andy); granddaughter, Rylei Ottesen (David); nephew, Marvin Burback; and niece, Jodi Pike (Gordon). He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Helen Lancaster; his sister, Bettejo Burback; and his brother-in-law, Melvin Burback.
Those who knew Lew will remember him as a man who loved his family deeply, who would do anything for a friend, and who lived a life filled with simple joys, hard work, and laughter. His music, his stories, and his love will echo in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Henderson Community Church, 12001 Oakland Street, Henderson, Colorado. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
Flowers may be sent in care of Jodi Pike at 11201 Lansing Street, Commerce City, Colorado 80640.
