Lewetta Tivis

Lewetta Tivis 71, passed away at her home on January 22, 2023. Lewetta was born in Portales, NM on July 7,1951 to Doyle and Margie (Anderson) Moore. She graduated from Portales High School in 1969.
Lewetta worked at Pats Twin Cronnie in High school where she met the love of her life Roy Tivis. Roy and Lewetta were married in May 1972 at Central Christian Church. They made their home together in Portales until the day she went to be with her loved ones in heaven. Their marriage was blessed with two sons that were the light of her life.
Lewetta was best known for driving bus #19 for Portales Schools/Shearer School Buses for 33 years. She delivered several generations to and from school including her own children and grandchildren. Her family is approached often by people that rode her bus that express their joy at having known her. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends, going on fishing trips and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lewetta was preceded in death by her parents Doyle and Margie Moore, and her youngest son Richard Tivis. She is survived by her husband of almost 51 years Roy Tivis of the home, son Rodney Tivis (Nicole) of Portales, Daughter in-law Kristin Tivis of Midlothian TX, brother Jimmy Moore of Portales, sister Doylene Walker of Portales and sister in-law Pat Shearer of Ruidoso NM. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren Savannah Diroma (Phillip) of Prattville Alabama, Jaycey Morgan-Tivis (Dustin) of Portales, Chloe Tivis, Kaiden Tivis-Sink, Georgia Tivis, Kailen Wilkins, Maddilyn Wilkins, Nora Tivis and Alannah Sisneros.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
