Marlean Vernon Tivis 84 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on April 18,2025 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Marlean was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Mel Trent Tivis Sr. and Mable Irene Davis-Tivis on January 12, 1941. He had 2 brothers and 1 sister (Mel Trint Tivis Jr., Jerome Tivis and Marion Tivis-Pouncil). Marlean married Daniece Williams-Tivis on February 21, 1963. She preceded him in death in 1983. To this union one daughter Valencia Tivis-Murphy and one son Vernon Lamar Tivis.
Marlean attended school in the Kansas City, Mo School District where he graduated from Central High School in 1961. He then furthered his education in Accounting at Penn Valley Community College.
Marlean was a member of the United States Army from March 1962 to March 1968. Where he became an SP4 E-4.
Marlean held several jobs, he sold Insurance, he worked as a Police Officer for the KCMO Police Department and before retirement he was a City Bus Driver for ATA now known as Share Ride where he was awarded Distinguished Driver.
Marlean accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of The Paseo Baptist Church where he was a member of the Trustee Board and Usher Board. He became ordained under Pastor Charles J. Brisco in October of 1998.
He leaves to cherish in his memory: his sister - Marion Tivis- Pouncil, his children * Beverely McGary, Lori Wilson, Valencia Tivis-Murphy, Vernon L. Tivis Sr., Charmane Robinson-Abernathy (William), and Marlean Harris (Quintin* Q*). His grandchildren * Earl McGary, Jamala McGary, Shacara Pearson, Candice Allen, Maurice Murphy (Brittany), Mila Murphy, Vernae Tivis, Rayne Roberson, Trinity Abernathy, Vernon Tivis Jr., Vincent Ramsey, KaTerria Tivis, Christian Dowls, Cheynne Dowls, Courtney Price, Kyree McGary, Mariah McGary and host of great grandchildren, great-great children, family and friends.
Servies held Thursday, May 1, 2024 at Paseo Baptist Church, 2501 Paseo Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri 64127
