Lewis Jackson Wagstaff, better known as “Jack”, died on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Jack was a resident of River Landing at Sandy Ridge retirement community for the past 21 years and was born April 6, 1932 in Roxboro, NC. He was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with an art degree. He served in the Army for two years and them moved to Greensboro where he taught school for one year. Jack then joined the Lavide, Davis, and Newman Advertising Agency, High Point office as a graphic designer where he later became an account manager. After eleven years he joined one of his accounts, Mid State Tile Company based in Lexington, NC. He began an advertising manager and was later named Vice President of Marketing. Eleven years later he returned to Greensboro, where he owned and operated the Tile Source Inc., a distributorship for ceramic tile. After selling the Tile Source, he joined Wagstaff/Hammer, where they imported tile and marble. He also had a studio to produce hand painted ceramic tiles which were sold nationally. If you are lucky enough to possess one of his nature collages that he created in his later years, you can attest to his artistry and talent. Jack was a kind, honorable, and highly creative man who was loved very much and will be missed by many. He is preceded in death by John, the youngest child of Jack and Kay in 1970 at the age of five. Survivors include is wife of 66 years, Kay; a son, Mark Wagstaff and his wife, Jenny; a daughter, Joan Caudle and her two sons, Jacob Caudle and wife, Megan, and Britt Caudle; two great granddaughters, Mila and Scarlet Caudle. There will be a Service of Thanksgiving and Witness to the Resurrection for Jack at Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2024. Flowers are welcome and memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Presbyterian Building Fund, 2614 Oak Ridge Rd., Oak Ridge, NC 27310. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
