Brooks Lyon Funeral Home - South BostonIn loving memory of Lewis "Peanut" Edward Bowling, Jr. of Clover, VA, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the age of 67. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 13, 1958. Lewis was employed with Watson's Refrigeration Incorporated in Raleigh, NC.
He was the loving and devoted husband of 30 years to Pamela G. Bowling; an affectionate and doting father to Alexandria Bowling (William Voss); a supportive father to Justin Dowdy (Beth); grandson, Avery Dowdy; a caring brother to Patricia Rogers & Lora Smith (Woody); loved by his father-in-law, Jerry Gunter "Big Red" and sister-in-laws, Debbie (Ron), Lisa, and Amy (Chris); all of his nieces and nephews; his work family at Watson's Refrigeration; his special friend, Chuck Watson; other special friends, Ed, Dee, PJ, Champ, Pop & Kenny; and life long friend, Oscar Brooks.
Peanut was a skilled plumber, carpenter, renovator, auto mechanic, and an all around handyman. He loved the sunshine, outdoors and enjoyed being in nature. He loved grilling, gardening, landscaping, wildlife, music and children. He held a special place in his heart for his dogs and cats. He took pride and joy in his family, home, and his work. He was kindhearted, selfless, compassionate, and hard-working, always putting the needs of other’s above his own. He touched the hearts and left a lifelong impression on everyone he met.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October, 20, 2025 at Clover Bottom Baptist Church, 7042 Stage Coach Road, Nathalie, VA 24577 with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating.
