Liana Robberechts ( née Van Breedam), age 72, most recently residing in Plainfield IL USA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 surrounded by love and care.
Born on August 18,1953 in Willebroek, Belgium, Liana was the daughter of late Emiel Van Breedam and Irma Thomas. She was close to her parents in law late Raymond Robberechts and Louisa Dalemans.
At the age of 18 she started dating her future husband Francis Robberechts, they married at age 21 and recently on July 11, 2025 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary!
They have two caring sons Ian and Ken and three lovely grandchildren Mila, Max and Ayden. Ian is married to Kasia Szymanek and Ken to Mary Young.
Liana will be remembered by the Robberechts, Van Breedam, De Buyser, Gonzalez, Thomas, Szymanek and Young families and close friends as a very devoted mother and grandmother who put family needs always before her own needs. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her life and the main reason to fight with passion against the advanced cancer for three challenging years.
Liana is survived by her sister Brigitte Van Breedam and brother in law Rene De Buyser, sister in law Georgette Robberechts and brother in law Jesus Gonzalez and brother Pierre Van Breedam.
Liana was in daily calls and/or video calls with her sister Brigitte and sister in law Georgette. Her cousins Jean-Pierre and Patrick Thomas and their families were very close and visited the USA several times for joint activities and trips. Even though they lived far apart she kept a strong bond with her loving family.
Liana was always passionate about keeping the home and yard in perfect condition and had different hobbies over the years. Because she lived in several locations the hobbies went from swing dance in Belgium to horseback riding in Curaçao, to tennis and dog training ( Bouvier of Flanders) in the USA. She got champion titles on her Belgian Bouviers in the USA and Canada. In Missouri she became really good at country dancing and in Chicago it was Salsa, Bachata and Latino dancing with her husband, often till the early morning hours.
Per her wishes, there will be no formal services.
