Mrs. Elizabeth "Libby" K. Higginbotham, age 97 of Hartwell, Ga passed away on Tuesday evening, August 12, 2025 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC. Born June 19, 1928 in Hartwell, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Alma (Brown) Kay. Libby was a life long resident of Hartwell and a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church.

Libby enjoyed traveling and loved gardening, particularly tending to her flowers. Throughout her life, Libby showed her many creative talents. She expressed herself through quilting, oil paintings of flowers and her home, and portraits of her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Seth Higginbotham, daughters Kay Ayers, Suzanne Norton, Barbara Boleman,  brother Walker Kay, sister Mary Peek, and granddaughter Kelly Norton. 

Left to carry on her legacy are her son David Higginbotham (Debbie), grandchildren Ashley Griffith (Steve), Heather Reiheld (Philip), Brandon Ayers, Shane Norton, Joanna Brafford, Courtney Costa (Josue), Marie Higginbotham, Jonathan Higginbotham (Kelley), Angela Mizell (Will), and numerous great- grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Hartwell First Baptist Church- Chapel. The family will briefly receive friends following the service.

Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors& Crematory of 333 E Johnson Street, Hartwell, GA.
