Lieutenant Colonel Cletis "Clete" R. Davis was called home by the Lord December 16, 2022 Clete was born December 6, 1950 in Lake City, Arkansas and attended school in the Lake City public schools. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of 1969 and served until January of 1974 with the 5th, 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions in California, the Republic of Vietnam and North Carolina. In 1978 he was ordered to the First Marine Brigade in Hawaii, where he served with the 2nd Battalion 3rd Marine until 1982. With this assignment he served consecutively as rifle and weapons platoon commander, rifle company executive officer, assistant BLT logistics officer and Commanding Officer Company G. He was ordered to the USS Wisconsin for duty as the Commanding Officer Marine Detachment. He assumed this billet in February 1988 and relinquished command in June 1989. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Medal.
Clete retired in 2002. During retirement, he and his wife have traveled, cheered for the St. Louis Cardinals and spent time with their beloved dogs.
Clete is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Lea Votis (Green) Davis and a brother Jerry Davis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Hoyt) Davis, a daughter Adrienne Davis and son Cameron Davis both of Western Australia. Brothers Ronnie Davis of Aubrey, TX, James Davis of Manila, AR, John Davis of Jonesboro, AR. Sisters Gloria Boyd of Jonesboro, AR, Barbara Vincent of Wynne, AR and Joan Davis of Bono, AR. Three stepchildren Kristen Piraino, Conway, AR, Erica Calavitta of Dardanelle, AR and Matt Taylor of Redmond, WA. Seven step grandchildren and one step great grandson.
A private committal service was held at J. Herman Humphrey Dignity Cremation Center Chapel of Light. A celebration of Clete's life with full military honors will follow at a later date.

I knew LtCol Davis as Capt Davis back in the mid eighties at Camp Pendleton while we were both stationed at the 62 area with 7th Marines, 1st MarDiv. Thought of you today. RIP Cletis.
