Lila Mae Bunte, 82, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born on January 27, 1942, in Knox City, Missouri to the late Alford and Willa Kessler Strange and has lived in the Valdosta area since she was 18 years old, arriving with her late husband, Larry Dale Bunte, when he was stationed at Moody Air Force Base (Moody Field). Mrs. Lila retired from Valdosta State University where she worked as a postal clerk in the post office. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie and Linda Bunte of Hahira, Lester and Brenda Bunte of Valdosta, Loren and Kara Bunte of Valdosta; her daughter and son-in-law, Loren and Desi Willis of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Kassidy Bunte, Jordan Bunte, Madison Welch, Shonda Bunte, Cory Bunte, Ashley Ammons, Shannon Brisco, Kayden Willis, Aubrey Willis, and Crystal DeMaranville; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Larry Dale Bunte, her daughter, Lisa Bunte and her grandson, Christopher Shawn Criswell.
A graveside service for Lila Bunte will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Dr. Henry Cannington officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
