Lillian "Lil" Burnham

Lillian "Lil" Hawthorne Burnham, 97, of Granite Farms Estates, Media, formerly of Ridley Township, died October 31, 2025.

The daughter of the late Warren and Helen (Simpkins) Hawthorne, Lillian, from the age of 9, was raised in Prospect Park in her grandfather's corner store on Chester Pike and Summit Ave. She graduated from Prospect Park High School where she met her beloved husband of 65 years, Jack, who predeceased her in 2014.

Lil worked 18 years for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as administrative assistant to the General Manager of the Heat Transfer Division. When her daughter went off to college she worked as administrative assistant to the school nurses at Ridley High School.

Lillian was a devoted member of Olivet Presbyterian Church since the age of 12. She loved her church and was deeply saddened when it was forced to close in October of 2019. Lil considered it a privilege to have served as an Elder, a Deacon and as part of the Evangelism Committee.

Friends meant a lot to Lil and she felt blessed to have so many dear ones from school, church, working, volunteering and from her Granite Farms days.

Surviving are her daughter Leah Grinnen and grandson Ethan Grinnen of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by close friends, Diane and Steve Hawrylak, her dear nephew, Rick Iuliucci and his wife, Karen, her cousin June Seal (Eric), her cousin Carolyn Kehoe (Darren), and her dear friend, Patti Sheppard Stinger.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Griffith's Funeral Chapel in Norwood, PA.

Following a private memorial burial will be at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
