Lillian Hund Obituary

Our loving mother, Lillian C. Hund (Parteka) passed away peacefully with family at her side on October 21, 2025 at the age of 95.
She was born on an 80 acre farm in Parisville, Michigan to Catherine and John Parteka. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School, and was proud of her Felician Sister's education. She kept in touch with them through the years. The sisters recognized Lillian by her neat printing and would have her write the daily lessons and spelling words on the chalkboard. The nuns also stated that Lillian had wisdom beyond her years.
Mom always told us she had a happy childhood, being raised on the farm. She loved to tell stories about the horses, one was a white horse, named Mudd and that all of their dogs were named Tippy. The family of ten children that she grew up with on the farm had very successful crops. They had a huge garden and grew many pickles, enough to sell. They also raised ducks as part of their income. The task of farming was matched to her joy of fun. Mom and her sisters enjoyed weddings and dancing,. The Arcadia ballroom played big band music that mom loved, Lillian was an award-winning polka dancer. Parish life at St. Mary's was very meaningful on Sundays, and the priest often visited her home for festivities and good polish food.
Food was the center of her love for family. She loved to prepare meals for her five children and husband, Philip Hund, whom she said was her only LOVE and she picked him. She saw Phil on his 34th birthday in the distance and asked her sister, Sophie, "Who is that?" She happily found out he was the youngest brother to the Hund's from Ubly. Lillian joyfully said, "He's MINE!" Lillian also had confidence in her convictions with Philip and with her five children.
Lillian eventually left the farm and began a short career at Sunshine Biscuit Factory in Saginaw, Michigan., After 4 years of courtship, she married Philip and enjoyed 54 years of marriage in the home that Philip, his brothers, family, and neighbors built in Rochester, Michigan. They raised their five children there where mom fulfilled her lifelong dream of being a wife and mother.
Lillian's sparkling personality and natural flair will always be remembered by those she met throughout the years, including the special caretakers and staff where she resided in her final years. Lillian took special pride in her grandchildren, imparting her love of card playing, especially pinochle, polka dancing, going out to eat, special luncheons, and hosting birthdays and holidays.
Lillian proudly identified herself as a domestic engineer, as her life-long occupation, which she never retired from. Her lifelong commitment was to instill in others the values she embraced, family, love, faith, and education.
Her stories, laughter, and boundless spirit - are the treasures she left us. We will carry them and her love in our heart always.
Thank you, Momma for everything.
