Lillian C. Smart, affectionately known as Lilli to her friends and family, embarked on her eternal journey on January 25, 2025, at the age of 68, in Denison, Texas. Born on July 2, 1956, in Portland, Oregon, Lilli's vibrant spirit and joyous heart touched the lives of many throughout her well-lived and cherished life.
Lilli's early years in Portland laid the foundation for her lifelong values of love, faith, and patriotism. Her spirited nature was evident from a young age as she grew into a woman of strong convictions and a generous heart. Lilli's patriotism shone brightly, a trait she proudly inherited from her father and honored as a dedicated member of the VFW Auxiliary. Her commitment to this cause was not just an act of service but a core part of her identity, as she sought to pay tribute to her father's legacy, her daughter's military service, and support for her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Mary Black, and her husband, H.W. (Dusty) Smart. As a loving mother, Lilli's greatest pride and joy were her children, Katie Baillio, Jon Baillio, and Megan Murillo. Her love extended to her cherished grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to her life: Ty Harper, Cheyenne Harper, Alex Baillio, Arielle Baillio, Isaac Baillio, Aidan Baillio, Darin Jackson, Fallyn Campbell, and Tony Murillo. Though her beloved granddaughter Tiara Lemons preceded her in death, the bond they shared continues to be a source of comfort and loving memory for the family.
Lilli's passions and interests were a reflection of her unique personality. One of her favorite pastimes was attending car shows with her husband, the love of her life, Dusty Smart, award-winning T-Bucket. Her enthusiasm for classic cars was contagious, and she relished in the camaraderie and excitement of the car show community. In these moments, surrounded by polished chrome and the roar of engines, Lilli's spirit truly soared.
Those who knew Lilli would describe her as a woman who embodied love, faith, and spirit in all aspects of her life. Her faith-filled nature provided a strong foundation for her and her family, guiding them through life's challenges and celebrations. Lilli's love was a beacon that drew people to her, and her spirit was a flame that never flickered, even in the face of adversity.
Lilli's memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared by her family and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and grace. To get to know her, all you had to do was look at the refrigerator covered in pictures of her family. She leaves a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire those who knew her. As we bid farewell to Lillian C. Smart, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of her loved ones.
The Lilli Smart family will update when additional information is available. Her memory will be honored not just in a singular moment but in every act of kindness and every gesture of love she inspired. Lilli's life was a testament to the beauty of a soul well-nurtured and a life well-lived, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her
