Lillian Esther Stakely, age 89, of Tiskilwa, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Manor Court in Peoria.
Lillian was born on May 27, 1934 in Germantown Hills to Emil Grebner and Bessie (Winkler) Anderson. She married Cranston Montgomery in July of 1952 and together they had two daughters, Linda and Candise. She later married Charles Stakely in October of 1959 and together they had one daughter, Debra.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Richard) Greene of Chillicothe, IL, Candise (Michael) Staley of Chillicothe, IL and Debra Stakely of Madisonville, TN; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Frank) Grimm, Gareth Greene, Lesley (Keith) Bloompott, Katherine (Jason) Nimtz, Devon Greene, Ryan (Kami) Greene, Chelsea (John) Bouppha, Briannah (Wade) Robel, Andrew (Emnie) Staley, Christopher (Cheryl) Staley, Hillary (Will) Sharpnack and Shelby Wagner; and her great-grandchildren, Addison and Delaney Grimm, Aly, Lilly and Haley Bouppha, Maddux Greene, Audrey and Amelia Robel, Ethan, Aiden, Everly, Collier and Whittier Staley and Hayes and Hattie Sharpnack. Also surviving are her sisters, Eileen Dotson of Metamora, IL, Marcella Tincher of Peoria, IL, Florence Grebner of Germantown Hills, IL; her nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Jim Cass; and Ann Grebner. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, Clifford and Robert Grebner.
Lillian worked in the Canteen for Caterpillar for many years. She was a member of the Tiskilwa Community Church and was very active with the Bureau County Senior Center. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, bicycling, playing cards, especially pinochle, and going for walks. She also did a lot of needlework and she loved country music and dancing.
Services were held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial followed at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the Tiskilwa Community Church.
