Obituary
Lillian Mae Bohnert Wehmeyer was born on January 18, 1926, in Comfort, Texas to the late Anton and Clara Schumann Bohnert, and passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025.
She graduated from Comfort High School and continued her education at the Draughon Business School. Lillian accepted a position at Fort Sam Houston and soon met the love of her life, Gene Wehmeyer, at the Fairyland Dance Hall in Comfort, Texas. They married at Immanuel Lutheran Church on April 6, 1946.
She gave birth to twin boys Darrell and Gerald and devoted her life to raising them. After she and Gene retired to the ranch in Center Point, she enjoyed volunteering at the Comfort Golden Age Center, delivering meals on wheels, and playing 42 with family. Lillian was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 70 years, as well as Maria Martha Verein, and the Order of Sons of Hermann.
She is survived by sons, Darrell (Melanie) and Gerald (Wanda); grandchildren, Amy (Joseph) Noble, Janet (Matthew) Howell, Brandy (Doug) Nentwich, Travis, Keri (Colin) Hardee; and 12 great-grandchildren. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Wehmeyer; brother, LeRoy Bohnert; and sister-in-law, Colleen Bohnert.
Funeral service will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort, Texas at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Interment will follow at the Comfort Cemetery.
Those who desire may make memorial contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Comfort Golden Age Center.
