Lillie Mae Carelock

Lillie Mae Carelock, age 92, of Nicholls passed away June 6, 2024 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born in Coffee County September 15, 1931 to the late Jessie Snipes and Lizzie Chaney Snipes, She had lived in Bacon County since 1990.
While being a member of the Dixie Union Home Maker Club she won state competition in 2009 and 2010 and she was Women of the Year in 2010. She was also a member of Victory Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hollis Carelock; son, Gary Carelock; brothers, J. L. Snipes, Buddy Snipes and B. F. Snipes; sisters, Reba Fowler Paulk, Annie Lou Sheffield, Winnie Crowder and Annie Bell Snipes. Survivors include four children, J.J. Carelock of Alma, Ondra Crews (Benny) of Nicholls, Arrowanna McDaniel (Ray) of Waycross and Nova Varnadore (Milton) of Reidsville; 9 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday (June 8, 2024) at 11:00 AM at Victory Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Shane Moore, Kevin Lingenfelter, Jamie Lingenfelter, Blake Varnadore Derrick Varnadore, Darren Carelock, Hunter Moore and Parker Lingenfelter. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
