Lilly Belle Erwin, the sweet Shih Tzu-Chihuahua mix girl of Whitney and Tyler Erwin of New Castle, Indiana, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, June 9, 2025, following complications of congestive heart failure.
Lilly Belle was born on Monday, April 16, 2012, but her adoption day to become part of the Erwin family was on Saturday, June 9, 2012. She was adopted from Night Stalkers Pet Emporium in Anderson, Indiana.
Lilly Belle celebrated her 13th birthday in April of 2025.
Whitney described Lilly Belle's personality as the "queen bee, very particular, protective, and a lover."
Whitney added that "she was a lazy dog who could be found in our bed all day sleeping. She would sleep most of the day and get up if she heard the gas turn on the stove, the buttons on the microwave, or the clinking of silverware."
Lilly Belle was Whitney and Tyler's first dog as a couple. She was in their lives for every major life event they experienced. She was there when they purchased their first house, and she helped make it a home. She was there watching over her new human infant siblings, watching them grow into beautiful young ladies. She slept in Whitney and Tyler's bed, alongside them every single night.
What her family felt Lilly Belle valued the most in her life was: snoozing in her parents bed, spending time with her family, and enjoying food.
One of the family's favorite memories of Lillie Belle was how protective she was, especially during Whitney's pregnancies. Lilly Belle wouldn't let anyone near Whitney, not even her human daddy, Tyler.
Lilly Belle, in true diva fashion, had quite the bathing and grooming routine. Lilly Belle took regular showers with Tyler and went every 6-8 weeks to visit Ashley at "Good Ole Dogs" in Muncie to be groomed. She saw Ashley for over 10 years.
Whitney relayed how Lilly Belle loved to go bye-bye. She especially liked to go visit her Mamaw and Papaw's house, "where she would run all around like crazy."
Lilly Belle loved all food. According to Whitney, "It was her love language. She especially loved "any kind of meat the most."
Whitney shared one of her favorite memories of Lillie Belle. Lilly Belle would do this funny thing where it would appear as if she were talking. "She would move her mouth and look like she was talking, but nothing would come out, and we would all laugh so hard. We used to say she was trying to tell on Carl."
Lilly Belle was so tiny, but she didn't let that stop her. She was the alpha girl of the family; she used to boss around her much bigger fur sibling, Carl.
Her brother Carl was waiting on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge to greet Lilly Belle, having preceded her in death on July 30, 2024.
Whitney and Tyler used to refer to Lilly Belle as their "ride or die girl." She was very attached to them and loved them very much. She was always there by their side. They loved how loyal Lillie Belle was to them and how she was always up for a snuggle.
Whitney, Tyler, and her human sisters Eleanor and Madelyn are absolutely heartbroken by the loss of their sweet Lilly Belle. Lilly Belle will never be forgotten and will forever remain in their hearts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever In Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Lilly Belle Erwin.
