Lillie Mae Fleming
October 20, 1943 – May 21, 2025
With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Lillie Mae Fleming, who
transitioned this life at home, peacefully surrounded by her children.
Lillie was born on October 20, 1943, in Eastover, South Carolina, to the late Mary Jane
Wider and Henry Wider. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Jamaica,
NY in 1960, and the following year married Edward Fleming (preceded in death).
Together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family.
Lillie is also preceded in death by her big brothers John, Everett and Perry Wider, who
shared the foundation of her strong family values.
She was the proud and devoted mother of Felicia Fleming, Darlene Fleming, Cheryl
Woodham and Jason Fleming. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law Nicole
Fleming and son-in-law Steven Woodham. Her nurturing spirit and enduring strength
shaped not only the lives of her children, but also her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Lillie was blessed with 12 grandchildren: Taniqua, Jerell (preceded in death), Dayon,
Jessica, Janeece, Steven, Shaun, Kayla, Jade, Maya, Jason, and Ciarah. Her joy grew
even greater with the arrival of her seven great-grandchildren: Jesiah, Payten,
Madyson, Ava, Nasir, Paris, and Prestyn. Her family was her pride and joy and she
poured her heart into them and cherished each of them deeply. She loved nothing
more than seeing her family grow and thrive and treasured every moment spent
together.
Known for her warmth, wisdom and quiet strength, Lillie touched countless lives with
her kindness and unwavering support. She found joy in life's simple pleasures,
especially in her favorite pastime-bingo-which brought her laughter, connection and
a bit of friendly competition.
Lillie will be remembered for her soft heart, her steady presence, and the unconditional
love she extended to everyone around her. Her legacy of love, resilience and grace
lives on in the generations she helped raise, in the hearts of all who knew her and the
memories she leaves behind. She developed a strong bond with her in-laws, cousins,
aunts and the many women she met through the years, including her "crew" at home.
She leaves to mourn a host of extended family, friends, "daughters-in-love", "sons-inlove", "sister friends" and "buddies", who truly love and will miss her dearly.
"Thank you Mommy, for all you did, for all those years while I was busy turning into me!"
-Love, Felicia
"Mom, thank you for always being there for me and Kayla. I was honored to be there for you!"
-Love, Darlene
"I will carry the torch of your holiday traditions and can finally make the stuffing like you!"
-Love Cheryl
"You are my first love, my boo, my chef, my everything. Because of you,I will be alright!"
-Love, Jason
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who sent prayers, condolences,
flowers, donations and kind words during this time of loss. Your love and support have
been a great comfort and are deeply appreciated.
"Divine Creator, we lift up the soul of Lillie Mae Fleming into Your eternal light. May
she be welcomed with open arms into the realms of peace, where no sorrow lives and love
flows endlessly. Let her spirit soar free, surrounded by the ancestors, guided by Your
grace. We ask for healing for those who grieve and for strength to honor her memory by
living with love, purpose, and faith. Though her earthly presence has passed, her spirit
remains ever near-watching, guiding, and loving. Amen."
