Ms. Lillie Mae Nix–Madison–Jenkins of Tampa, FL passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Keystone, 8202 Peterson Road, Odessa, FL 33556 with Reverend Tony B. Harris, Officiating.
Lillie Mae Nix–Madison-Jenkins, was born on December 28, 1943, to George Washington Nix, Sr., and Ethel Mae James-Nix. She was delivered by a midwife, Ms. Gainers, in Tampa, Florida (Ybor City). Lillie Mae attended the public schools of Hillsborough County: Dillard Elementary in Sulphur Springs, Booker T. Washington Junior High, and graduated from Middleton High School, Class of 1961. She also attended Gibbs Jr. College in St Petersburg, FL.
She was raised in Keystone, where she accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Keystone. The Lord blessed her to play the piano at the age of seven. When she thought about what the adults were saying, she played "by air" when it was said, "by ear". Throughout her life, she was involved with several choral ensembles and was the designated Pianist at nine different churches. The Lord blessed her with the ability to teach and preach the word, without a pulpit.
Lillie Mae is preceded in death by: her husband, Gabe Jenkins; son, Rev. Barron Madison; brother, Jonny Wootson (Carrie) of LaGrange, North Carolina; and stepson, William (Billy) Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her brother, George Nix Jr. (Nathleen); son, Reginald Madison; stepson, Gabe E. Jenkins; a grandchild; aunts; uncles; cousins; in-laws; Godchildren, Karen, T.J., Rhondalyn, and Juquan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A life well lived. "To god be the glory"
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Keystone, 8202 Peterson Road, Odessa, FL 33556.
