Lilly Gertrude Taylor, 101, of Green Bank passed away on August 13, 2024 at the Pocahontas Center in Marlinton, WV.
She was born August 5, 1923 in Dunmore and was the daughter and last surviving child of the union of the late James Ray and Inez Mercedes Oliver Horner.
Gertrude was a homemaker and a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death her husband Bedford Russell Taylor; step daughter Sandra Postlethwait; step grandson Chuck Postlethwait; sister Naomi Ruth Horner McQuain and brothers Neil and Byrle Horner.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Shirley(McLaughlin) Carpenter; son Bedford "Rusty" Taylor (Holly); step son Randy Taylor; grandchildren Mark Carpenter (Glennetta), Mike Carpenter (Joyce), Wendy Sharp (Don), Cheryl Topper (Ron), Chris Taylor (Melissa), Shawn Taylor (Anita); step grandchildren, Debbie Snider (Jeff), Cindy Lagassee and husband Scott and Kelly Skinner; 14 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Gertrude will be Saturday August 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Barkley Paul officiating with interment to follow at the Arbovale Cemetery Annex.
The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 AM until time of services on Saturday at the church.

I loved spending time at Gertrude´s house as a child. Feeding lambs
With a bottle, she gave me two
Little Banty hens which I raised as pets. Coming to Green Bank always involved a Visit to Gertrude´s house. Such a warm and loving lady. Dear dear friend of our family and special friend of my mom and dad. Blessed
To have know this beautiful soul!
