With a beat of the drum and a flip of a pancake, we celebrate the life of Lin Tin, or as he was lovingly known, Maddog. Born on September 16, 1968, in Pailin, Cambodia, Maddog began his journey in life one could describe as nothing short of a spicy stir fry. He seasoned every moment with humor, resilience, and an unyielding love for his big, boisterous family. As a loyal Steelers fan, he tackled life's challenges with the same tenacity as his favorite football team on the field. His resilience was his compass, helping him navigate the winding roads of life all the way to North Dallas, where he settled and made his home.
As talented as he was in the kitchen, Maddog was just as skilled behind a drum set. His love for music resounded in every beat, every rhythm, and like a catchy drum solo, his presence left a lasting, unforgettable echo. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life - cooking up a storm in the kitchen, jamming to music, binge-watching YouTube, and the occasional gamble. Yet, what truly warmed his heart was having his kids around him. He might have had three babymommas, but he loved all his kids the best way he knew how - fervently, unconditionally, and with a dash of his signature humor.
Maddog leaves behind a legacy that will continue to resonate in his children Anny (Esteban) Martinez, Allyssa Tin, Jeffrey Nay, and Jesse Moeun; his grandson Camillo Martinez; his siblings Min Seng, Vanna Tin, and Ly "Bunly". He is preceded in death by his parents, Thun Pan and Yin Pan. Maddog's spirit will continue to live in the hearts of his many cousins, nieces, and nephews, who were an integral part of his life.
In the words of Buddha, "In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you." Maddog exemplified this teaching in every facet of his life. His loving nature, his gentle resilience, and his graceful acceptance of life's ups and downs will forever be remembered. We invite you to share your favorite memories of Maddog and upload photos to the memorial page, so we can all remember the man who lived life as vibrantly as the dishes he cooked.
