It is with a mixture of sorrow and gratitude that we remember the life of Linda Sue Aird, who passed away on December 24, 2023. Born on September 21, 1948, in Washington D.C., Linda's journey of 75 years was a testament to resilience, warmth, and an undying love for her family. Residing in Louisa, Virginia, after a fruitful tenure in Washington, DC and Roanoke, VA, Linda's presence was a wellspring of joy and comfort to those around her.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "I sustain myself with the love of my family." This quote resonated deeply with Linda, who held her family as the most valued treasure in her life. Her career in the working for UVA Printing Office she was a dedicated employee. In her retirement, Linda cultivated a beautiful garden that mirrored her own life – vibrant, nurturing, and ever-growing. Her love for gardening was not just a hobby, but a testament to her deep understanding that life, like a garden, requires love, patience, and the occasional touch of the unexpected.
Linda is survived by her brothers, Charles Aird (Donna) and Phillip Aird (Susie), who will remember her as a sister with an unshakeable spirit and a heart full of love for her best friend Richard Jenkins and husband Ronald Myers.. She now joins those who preceded her: her father, Jesse Sr., her mother, Carrie M. Akers Aird, her sister Mary Ellen Aird, and her brother Jesse Jr. As John Irving said, "When someone you love dies, and you're not expecting it, you don't lose her all at once; you lose her in pieces over a long time." As we remember Linda, let us celebrate her life, the love she extended, and the lives she touched.
We invite all family and friends to share memories and upload photos of Linda to the memorial page. In doing so, we keep her spirit alive, and her memory a comforting presence in our lives. Let us remember Linda not with sorrow, but with the same joy and love she brought into our world.
