Linda Gayle Argento, 77, a beloved member of her community and a dedicated friend to many, passed away on September 6, 2025, at her home in New Philadelphia, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 26, 1948, in Wadsworth, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Gale L. and Clara (Melton) Arnold. Linda spent her early years in Wadsworth before moving to Dover, where she graduated with honors with the class of 1966.
Throughout her professional career, Linda exhibited an unwavering commitment to helping others. Her journey began at Manpower, where she worked for five years before dedicating over 22 years as a financial aid counselor at Kent State Tuscarawas. Her work was not merely a job; it was a true calling, allowing her to assist countless students in navigating their educational pursuits. Linda's generosity and willingness to help were hallmarks of her character, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues and students alike.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Linda was an active member of her community. Her faith was a significant aspect of her life; she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and served as an Eucharistic minister at Holy Trinity in Bolivar. Additionally, her community spirit shone through her years with the PTO in New Cumberland and her efforts raising funds for the American Cancer Society.
Linda's personal life was equally rich, as she shared a deep bond with her husband, Eugene "Geno" Argento, whom she married on November 21, 1987. Together, they shared a passion for travel, creating countless cherished memories as they explored new places and cultures.
In addition to Geno, she leaves behind her children; Jeffrey (Tami) Schaar, Todd (Melissa) Schaar, Tracie Brent, Chris Argento, Heidi Argento, Gina Argento, Rock (Sharon) Argento, and Connie (Jim) Smith; her beloved grandchildren, Olivia, Michael, Chance, Malia, Noah, Evan, Gracie, Rocky, Ryan, Kacie, Kristen, Andrea, Lauren, Isabella, Stefan, Rocco, Geno, Ian, Mackenzie, and James; 22 great-grandchildren. She was expecting another great-grandchild in January, along with her brother and sister in-law, John and Mary Melich.
